Monte Grande is a monarchy that has modeled itself after the monarchies of Europe, albeit without a constitution. The king of Monte Grande, as absolute monarch, is the executive and final authority in all government matters.
The generally elected prime minister is the Head of State in international dealings.
Exercising “roi dignite” the king prefers to leave that role to the prime minister.
The king allows the election of parliament’s lower house, called The House of Commoners. The upper house of the Monte Grandean parliament is the House of Grandees, which is consisted of and seated by the titled nobility.
Although there are over 300 titled noble families in Monte Grande, no more than 75 may sit in parliament at any time. The 75 titled Grandee Lords are elected by and from the ranks of Monte Grandean nobility, with the ranking noble automatically assuming the position of Deputy Prime Minister. The kings have and will dissolve parliament if they deem it necessary.
Over the past 56 years, the kings have relaxed their hold on the reins of power. The king allows for regional governments and local authorities, all of whom answer to the crown in succeeding order. The king’s brothers act as “defacto” governors in their respective regions from hence they draw their titles and income. The king has four brothers, all of whom hold titles of dignity and land. The king’s brothers and nephews are all in line for the throne of Monte Grande, in order of birth.
The Kings Council of Advisors, is comprised of the brothers of the king. They are:
H.R.H.- Dario Caesar de Silva y Montcort, Duke of Chula Vista
H.R.H.- Gaspar Alejandro de Silva y Montcort, Duke of Monte Chico
H.R.H. Enrique Manuel de Silva y Montcort, Duke of Ocho Rios
H.R.H. Carlos Esteban de Silva y Montcort, Duke of Pelos Lisos
Also seated on the council are the kings cousins:
H.R.H Juan Martin de Silva y Plascence, Duke of Pin Marin
H.R.H. Edelberto Pablo de Silva y Plascence, Duke of San Peluca
H.R.H. Jorge Felipe de Silva y Plascence, Duke of Punta Alta
The local town officials and councils are all modeled after those in The United States. Monte Grande has mayors, councilors, managers, representatives, alderman plus numerous other offices, as found in U.S. cities. The following are the governmental officers who advise the king.
